Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stressed? Are you struggling to manage emotions that feel tied to early childhood trauma or attachment wounds? Maybe painful memories or intrusive thoughts from your past are affecting how you connect with yourself and others—and making it hard to live fully in the present. These early experiences can shape your emotional world in ways that feel heavy and difficult to carry.
Welcome, my name is Joanie Lemmon Bella, LCMHC (she/her). I believe the counseling process is a journey towards healing, one in which happens in relationship with others. Holding space with compassion, creating a safe environment in which to explore, and being with what arises in the present moment allows for the light to shine within those dark places. It is then that the transformation of pain and suffering becomes possible.
I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions in New Hampshire and telehealth sessions in Vermont.
EMDR Intensives for Attachment Wounds & Childhood Trauma
An EMDR Intensive is a focused, transformational approach to therapy that helps you make significant progress in less time.
Childhood trauma and attachment wounds often shape how you experience emotions and relate to yourself and others. These early hurts can create feelings of disconnection, mistrust, and difficulty managing stress or intimacy. When early childhood wounds affect how you feel and connect, EMDR Intensives offer dedicated time and compassionate support to release the past and rebuild trust in yourself. These focused, highly personalized sessions happen in a condensed timeframe, often bringing relief sooner. With extended sessions that maintain momentum, you can explore, process, and integrate more deeply in less time. Intensives fit busy schedules, support life transitions or crises, and can complement ongoing therapy—while also including grounding and regulation practices to care for your whole nervous system.
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a proven therapy that helps the brain and body heal from traumatic or distressing experiences. Using bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, tapping, or sounds—EMDR activates the brain’s natural ability to reprocess “stuck” memories so they no longer trigger intense distress. Rather than erasing memories, EMDR helps you remember them without the same emotional pain. EMDR has been shown effective for many challenges, including trauma, anxiety, panic, grief, depression, and physical symptoms linked to emotional pain. Many clients experience lasting relief, fewer intrusive thoughts, and greater emotional resilience.
What makes an EMDR Intensive different?
EMDR Intensives offer focused, accelerated healing by allowing you to work through challenges in days or weeks instead of months. Longer sessions create steady momentum, reducing the “start–stop” rhythm of weekly therapy and keeping you fully engaged. Each intensive is tailored to your goals, history, and nervous system capacity, providing space to explore and integrate without feeling rushed. This format fits busy schedules, supports life transitions or crises, and can complement ongoing therapy by focusing on trauma or stuck points. Along with trauma processing, intensives often include grounding, resourcing, and integration practices to support your overall well-being and nervous system health.
What if I feel overwhelmed?
We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, with grounding tools to keep you steady and supported. We approach your past gently, so you won’t feel rushed or overwhelmed. If parts of you feel guarded, that’s completely normal—we’ll honor them and create a safe space before moving forward. Before beginning, we’ll make sure this approach feels like the right fit. Even if memories are unclear, your body and emotions hold the wisdom we need to work with. Our pre-intensive sessions also give us time to connect and build trust before starting the work together.
Healing takes courage, I’m here to walk alongside you at a pace that feels right. If this feels like the next step for you, reach out to talk through your questions — no pressure, just support. I offer a free consultation to explore if this is the right fit for you.
To enhance and support your Intensive, I offer additional healing approaches that can be woven into our work together, such as Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, Internal Family Systems, SoulCollage®, and other expressive arts modalities. Learn more about each offering below.
